Today was a big day for mom. She was switched from pureed foods to solids-so tonight she ate food that actually had shape rather than babyfood. It sounds like she enojyed every bite of it, my Lord wouldn't you if you hadn't eaten food in 7 weeks?
Last night dad and Uncle Jerry were joking around and dad said that mom was totally in on the conversation and at one point was cracking up laughing (he said harder than he has seen her laugh in a long time).
Some days are better than others in terms of her spirits, but we are constantly reminded of how blessed we are since she is really only about 3.5 weeks into rehab. WOW, it's overwhelming to think of how far she has come.

That's so awesome! I am so glad she is at Touro. They must work wonders. If she started on solids now, does that mean the feeding tube will soon come out or has it already been removed?

I'm so glad you're enjoying food again just in time for the holidays. We'll all go back to our little sushi bar next time you're in town. Charles can get the stir-fry.

So many of my friends and co-workers are praying for you and keeping up with the blogg. Now don't get cocky on me but I am going to give you some feedback from their comments. Everyone says to me that you are so BEAUTIFUL. REALLY CHUCK I am not making this up they are saying this about your little bride! I tell them yes, and if you knew her spirit you would also say she is beautiful inside and out. LOVE ya Keep on Keeping on Girl you are doing great!
OH MY GOODNESS...I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD LUISA LOOKS!!! Russell, Irma, and I went to see her tonight and she looked awesome! She was talking on the phone to Robin having a regular conversation. She even asked Charles "what's up?" when she talked to him on the phone. We all sat in the gym with her and talked and laughed a lot. She answered my questions by shaking her head yes or no. She even talked a little too. She seemed to do better while on the phone with being able to find the right words. It seemed effortless as she sat holding the phone to her ear. Russell said we should step out and call her on the phone...ha ha.
The last time I saw her, she had just started opening her eyes and following commands like "can you move your arm?" Now she is sitting up and acting like herself!! WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! I couldn't find anything different about her. She looks and acts like the same Luisa we all know.
Talk about everyone's Christmas wish coming true!! I just witnessed it!!!!!
